TOURISM
Tourism is in a phase of development and investments should be made in this sector. In the past three years, many new hotels have been built and renovated, but the demand is still high and more hotels will be needed in the future, because of the increase of the number of tourists visiting Latvia (especially outside Riga). In the last two years, after the admission of Latvia to the EU the number of Italian visitors steeply increased; at the same time, more and more Latvian tourists keep on visiting Italy.
For the time being, there are two daily direct flights between the two countries operated by Air Baltic, Milan-Riga and Rome-Riga (Riga-Venice is provided only on Thursday and Sunday), while the low cost airline Ryanair assures 4 Bergamo-Riga flights per week.
